Moustafa Sherif Joins VertiCairo As Research Assistant
Moustafa is a Research Assistant at VertiCairo, where he applies his expertise in biology to support sustainable farming initiatives and research. His passion for ecology and the environment drives his work, making him a valuable contributor to VertiCairo's innovative projects in aquaponics, vertical farming and essential oil extraction.
A recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Moustafa specialized in both Molecular and Cell Biology as well as Marine Biology, with minors in Bioinformatics and Chemistry. His bachelor’s thesis focused on the hydrocoral species *Millepora alcicornis* (fire coral) and the bacteria associated with healthy and bleached samples, reflecting his deep interest in marine ecosystems.
In addition to his role at VertiCairo, Moustafa works as a research assistant in AUC’s plant biotechnology labs, where he is involved in research on Red Sea algae, and as a teaching assistant. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Biotechnology, with a focus on coral microbiology, Moustafa brings a strong scientific foundation to VertiCairo, where he is committed to advancing sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.
