Youssef El Bayoumy Joins VertiCairo As Chief Scientific Officer
Youssef El Bayoumy is the Chief Science Officer at VertiCairo, where he leads the scientific strategy and directs a team of research assistants in advancing the company’s innovative approach to sustainable vertical farming, aquaponics, and essential oil extraction. He joined VertiCairo in January 2024, initially helping to establish operations and serving as a scientific advisor.

Prior to his role at VertiCairo, Youssef earned a BSc in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Business Administration from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2021. He went on to work at the Magdi Yacoub Foundation - Aswan Heart Centre as a research assistant and later as a junior research assistant until July 2024. During this time, he also completed a standalone research project on an Egyptian spider species, which was published in Taylor and Francis in January 2024.

Currently pursuing an MSc in Conservation Biology at Lund University, Youssef brings a rich academic background and research experience to VertiCairo, ensuring the company’s operations are scientifically rigorous and sustainable.
